Amyl and The Sniffers - Cartoon Darkness [VINYL]

In the eight years since Amyl and The Sniffers emerged from Melbourne's sticky pub-rock scene, the band has mastered the balance of power and playfulness. With two critically acclaimed albums—2019's self-titled debut and 2021's visceral 'Comfort to Me'—vocalist Amy Taylor, guitarist Declan Mehrtens, bassist Gus Romer, and drummer Bryce Wilson have achieved something unique and remarkable. Their third album, 'Cartoon Darkness', is fueled by a bigger, brighter, smarter, and sharper attitude. Recorded with producer Nick Launay at the Foo Fighters' 606 Studios in Los Angeles—on the same desk that captured Nirvana's 'Nevermind' and Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours'—this album is full of surprises. Musically, it's The Sniffers' most diverse work yet, spanning classic punk, glam rock swagger, and stormy balladry. Thematic depth explores climate crisis, war, AI, political fragility, and the numbing distractions of digital life, while also embracing escapism, hedonism, and the beauty in heartbreak.
