Jon Hassell - Music Is Invisible (Pentimento Volume Three) [CD]

Experience the final recorded performance of the visionary artist Jon Hassell with Music Is Invisible (Pentimento Volume Three). This CD captures Hassell in a rare trio setting with Rick Cox and John von Seggern during his last ever concert in London in 2015. Meticulously edited and mixed by Jeff Rona, this release transcends the typical live album format, weaving together themes and motifs from Hassell's acclaimed Listening To Pictures and Seeing Through Sound. These unique, semi-improvised pieces represent a fitting conclusion to the Pentimento series and a late-career renaissance for the artist.

The album is enriched by an insightful liner note essay penned by Jon Hassell himself, which inspired the title. The cover art features 'Leh C’est Beau,' a significant painting by Jon’s close friend, Mati Klarwein, an artist renowned for his iconic 1970s album sleeves for musicians like Miles Davis and Santana. The concept of 'Pentimento,' the visible traces of earlier work beneath newer layers in a painting, mirrors Jon Hassell's lifelong musical methodology of refinement and evolution.
