Swell Maps - The John Peel Sessions [Vinyl]

The John Peel Sessions brings together all three of Swell Maps’ recordings for John Peel on vinyl. It’s a collection for listeners interested in the band’s raw, experimental take on punk and post-punk.

Formed in the early 1970s, Swell Maps embraced a DIY approach and helped shape post-punk and DIY music. Their jagged 1977 debut single, ‘Read About Seymour’, was an early favourite of Peel, whose regular airplay helped build the band’s cult following.

These three sessions capture Swell Maps’ noisy, chaotic energy, off-kilter melodies and boundary-pushing creativity. Their influence reached bands including R.E.M., Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Pavement and Nirvana.
